The 180
During my time as an undergraduate at Cornell University, I saw how the School of Hotel Administration (SHA) had so many unique traditions, features, and characteristics that strongly defined what it means to be a Hotelie. I realized there weren’t any documentation to capture all of this. Thus, I decided to found the student-led publication in 2017.
In the conception year, I drafted the concept and designed the idea behind the publication. I created the name, the logo, and onboarded six other team members to be on the leadership. With this team and idea coming to fruition, The 180 was officially in operation in May 2017.
As Executive Director for three years, I led the first two issues of The 180: Hotelie Traditions (The Inaugural Issue) and Beyond Definition. As of this writing, The 180 has produced four issues in total with the fifth one in printing.
Upon graduation, I aimed to further establish The 180 through alumni involvement. I formed The 180 Advisory Board, a group of alumni who supported and worked on The 180 during their undergraduate years. Now third year in operation, the Advisory Board provides guidance and support for the undergraduates and the leadership of The 180.
